Lingap Matua – Gintong Gracia
“Leguan Makatua”
A program promoting the welfare and wellbeing of the senior citizens was launched on July 15, 2026 at Pampanga State University. This was a joint program of the Pampanga State University (PSU) – Apalit Campus and the Lingap Matua Foundation, Inc. (LMFI). This program, aptly resonating from the theme: “aspiring for a life with honor and dignity for our elderly” was conceptualized by the Lingap Matua Foundation, Inc. – Board of Trustees and its counter part from PSU Head, Representative & employee was successfully conducted. Spearheaded by the Lingap Matua-Guintong Gracia Team Leguan Makatua is such another milestone which was gladly participated in by the senior citizens from the Barangay Sampaloc, Apalit, Pampanga in collaboration with the LGU who provided transportation.
The entire activity was characterized with a joyful exchange of pleasantry – “kwentuan” and laughter between and among the expert beautician volunteers and the beneficiaries for hours.
A brief Introduction and welcoming remarks from PSU officials and Lingap Matua Chairman/BOT was shared coupled with orientation and research-based discussion concerning the elderly life vis-à-vis the aging process.
Afterwards, the services prepared for the elderly started with everyone’s delight availing in an alternating scheme across the different services rendered specifically: hair cut with (12) availed services; hair coloring (9), manicure (7) and pedicure (8) for both genders. Expertise on proper grooming has its share of “magical touch” in transforming a person’s perspective in life where confidence with their new look trim/cut hair style and color, and fresh nail color bring about a sense of honor and dignity to the elderly.
Surprisingly, each elderly person was given a kit of personal care as a token of filial love which they received with a hearty smile on their faces and joy in their hearts as they headed home.
“Certificate of Appreciation”, an expression of sincerest gratitude, was awarded to the expert volunteers in recognition of their invaluable support, sharing of talents, time, and treasure especially their distinct expertise accorded to our Senior citizens during the foundation community outreach activity “Lingap Leguan Makatua”.
Overall, this Community outreach program was able to uplift the Confidence level of our Senior Citizen in terms of their welfare and wellbeing, realizing that somewhere out there someone “TRULY CARE”! The success of this initial activity serves a benchmark to Lingap Matua Foundation, Inc. in terms of serving elderly in Strategic Partnership achieving “Ageless and Timeless – Beauty” for Elderly, and for Foundation and Partners as well. A partnership that will grow stronger through the guidance and blessing of the Almighty God with the sole aim of bringing happiness to and caring for the elderly.
We aim to spread this Lingap-Leguan Matua further to other barangays – puso para kay lolo at lola! You are, our elders, “our makatua” and everyone is a precious gift – the crowning glory of God. What we can be is our gift back to God.
