While many celebrated February 14th with flowers and chocolates, the Lingap Matua Foundation dedicated this Valentine’s Day to a different, profound kind of love: caring for our senior citizens.
On the morning of February 14, 2026, our team, alongside dedicated volunteer professionals, hosted a comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Optical Mission. From 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN, the Municipal Covered Court of San Juan, Apalit, Pampanga, was transformed into a bustling hub of healthcare, compassion, and community.
Delivering Essential Care Under One Roof
Access to basic healthcare is a significant hurdle for many seniors in our provinces. To address this, our half-day mission was divided into three core stations to provide holistic care to the grandparents of Apalit:
- 🩺 Medical Consultations: Volunteer physicians provided general check-ups, blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring, and distributed essential maintenance medicines and vitamins to help manage common age-related conditions.
- 🦷 Dental Services: Oral health is deeply tied to overall well-being. Our dental team offered safe tooth extractions, oral exams, and comfort care, ensuring our elders can eat and smile without pain.
- 👓 Optical Assistance: One of the most heartwarming moments of the day was the optical station. After comprehensive eye screenings, seniors were fitted with free reading glasses. Watching their faces light up as they could clearly read a prescription or see a familiar face was truly priceless.
More Than Just Medicine
Beyond the physical treatments, the morning was filled with warmth and connection. For many of the elders in San Juan, the event was a chance to socialize, share stories with our volunteers, and feel seen and valued by their community. We believe that a listening ear and a gentle hand are just as healing as the medications provided.
